Nabi’s (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Warning About Future Leaders

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith. The Hadith is therefore authentic. Sayyiduna Hudhayfah ibnul Yaman (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that he once asked Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), “O Messenger of Allah, we were in an evil state, then Allah brought us good, and we are now in this state of good. Will there be evil after this good?” Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied, “Yes.” I asked again, “Will there be good after that evil?” He replied, “Yes.” I asked for a third time, “Will there be evil after that good?” He said, “Yes.” I asked, “How will that be?” He said, “There will be leaders after me who will not follow my guidance nor adopt my Sunnah. Among them will arise men whose hearts are the hearts of devils in human bodies.” I asked, “What should I do, O Rasulullah, if I live to see that?” He said, “You must listen and obey the ruler, even if he strikes your back and takes your wealth.
